Hypegolf Clubhouse Classic Takes Over Long Island

Hypebeast, the leading global platform for contemporary culture and lifestyle, celebrated the fifth anniversary of its golf vertical, Hypegolf, by bringing a historic team competition to the New York metro area for the first time. The inaugural Hypegolf Clubhouse Classic took place on September 17 at Harbor Links Golf Course, serving as the grand finale to Hypegolf Clubhouse, a month-long pop-up space in the city for retail drops and community events since late August.

Unlike previous Hypegolf Invitationals, this tournament leaned into competition with a new 6-6-6 format that proved to be a huge hit. Designed to blend competitive play with an accessible and fun experience, this new format featured holes 1–6 as a four-person best ball, holes 7–12 as a two-person scramble, and holes 13–18 as a classic four-person scramble.

The day started with thoughtfully curated check-in gifts, including sunglasses from Hypegolf’s latest collaboration with Oakley and a Melin bucket hat perfect for the light rain. On the range, PXG offered new clubs and a team of fitters, while Technics built a DJ booth to keep the energy high.

When the noon shotgun sounded, foursomes—featuring the likes of actor Evan Mock, cricketer Steve Smith, celebrity photographer Diggzy, Kith COO Nick Annacone, and golf content creators Holein1trickshots and Kaitleen Shee—met a course stocked with Johnnie Walker Blue Label nips and Michelob ULTRA on ice in Yeti coolers.

Following the competition, participants gathered for happy hour, dinner, and an awards ceremony, with additional support from Whoop, Hyperice, Dimple & Divot, Ninja, and more. The Clubhouse Classic demonstrated that competitive golf can be approachable for golfers of all levels. Five years in, Hypegolf continues to define the balance between sport and culture.
