스펀지밥의 아버지, 스티븐 힐렌버그 루게릭병으로 별세

<네모바지 스펀지밥> 시리즈의 제작자 스티븐 힐렌버그가 57세의 나이로 세상을 떠났다. 원인은 루게릭 병이다. 스티븐 힐렌버그는 투병 중에도 계속해서 스펀지밥 영화 시리즈 제작에 매진해 주위 사람들의 안타까움을 샀다. 해양자원학을 전공한 스티븐 힐렌버그는 졸업 후 해양연구소에서 해양생물학을 가르치다 이를 더 쉽게 알려주고자 만화책을 만들었고, 그 계기는 추후 스펀지밥 시리즈의 제작으로 이어졌다. 현존하는 최고의 해양 생물 애니메이션. 스티븐 힐렌버그는 <스펀지밥> 시리즈를 통해 1999년부터 2015년까지 네 차례의 에미상을 수상하기도 했다. “그가 추구한 낙천주의의 가치, 우정, 그리고 무한한 상상력의 힘은 스펀지밥과 함께 오래동안 우리 곁에 머물 것입니다.” <스펀지밥>의 케이블 채널 니켈로디언은 트위터를 통해 스티븐 힐렌버그에 대한 애도의 뜻을 전했다.
